The Karnataka State Open University established on 1st June 1996 vide Karnataka Govt. Notification No. ED I UOV 95 dated 12th February 1996 - KSOU Act 1992 is considered to be a reputed Open University amongst the learning institutions in the country. Keeping in view the education need of our country in general and state in particular the policies and programmes have been geared to cater to the needy. Karnataka State Open University is a recognized University of Distance Education Council (DEC), New Delhi under the aegis of Ministry of HRD. Govt. of India, KSOU is a regular member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Delhi, and permanent member of Association of Commonwealth University (ACU), London, UK, Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU), Beijing, China and also the association with Commonwealth of Learning (COL). The courses are directly offered by University through our Study Centre. The courses of the University are approved by Distance Education Council (DEC).

Special Features of KSOU

Multi Entry & Multi Exit system to students through which any students who has taken admission in Bachelor Program may exit after one year with Diploma and further may continue as per convenient.
Self Learning Material The University has prepared its Self Learning Material (SLM) for all courses which they are offering SLM is per instruction of DEC and on the basic of syllabus / curriculum of University.
Computer Based Tutorials University has converted the Self Learning Material into Computer Bases Tutorial (CBT). With the help of CBP any student can study at his/her home or at any place where computer is available.
Learning Management System (LMS) University has also created Learning Management System (LMS) which is an online tool through which any student of KSOU can learn anywhere with help of internet. This will helps students "Study Anytime-Anywhere".
Syllabus is recognized among the existing University. Each course has covered the latest requirement of Industry in regard to job perspective.
